Parker-style Refill InstructionsParker-style refills are replaced by unscrewing the top and bottom sections of the pen at the middle (or very near the middle). Holding the pen horizontally and the writing end facing away from you, unscrew the top in a counter-clockwise fashion until the two pieces separate. The refill then slides out of the lower portion of the pen. BE CAREFUL TO KEEP THE SPRING THAT IS ON THE REFILL. Remove the spring from the used refill and discard the old refill. (If the spring does not come out with the refill it must be removed by placing a toothpick or the point of the refill into the writing end of the pen. Leaving it in place in the pen will probably not allow the new refill to insert properly into the pen.) Place the spring (with the large end of the spring nearest the writing end of the refill) on a new refill and slide the unit into the bottom section of the pen. With the top of the pen facing you and the writing end facing away from you, gently press the two halves together and screw them together in a clockwise fashion until just snug. DO NOT over-tighten. (If the refill extends from the writing end of the pen when you try to press the two sections together, the refill is not positioned properly in the upper portion of the pen. In this case unscrew the two sections of the pen and hold the pen vertically with the writing end pointing up and jiggle the pen. The top will then settle down on to the lower section and you can press the two sections together and screw them together). DO NOT over-tighten. |
